Living in Hawaii opened up lots of opportunities for outdoor activiy during the four years we lived there. I successfully completeed the Tinman Triathlon in July 2007. I also completed the Waimea Bay portion of the North Shore Swim Series, and half of the Honolulu Century Ride while I was there. There wasn't much opportunity to swim in Kyoto, but I was able to bicycle quite a bit, and even found some excellent bike paths. We also hiked up Hiei-Zan!.

Now that we live in Gainesville, I want to try to do more outdoor Florida activities. I've been swimming in our lake and biking around town, but would love to do more kayaking and canoeing or hiking / trail riding. If you have recommendations, please let me know!

I also love food and cooking. I've tried to take advantage of my international travels to get to know as many different flavors as possible. My favorites: Korean, Vietnamese, Ethiopian, Japanese, and Italian (of course) cooking!

Finally, I love to read, of course. While I’m not much for modern fiction (and by modern I mean anything after 1850 – hey, I’m a Classics major!), I’ve really gotten into non-fiction and have a sizeable stockpile saved up in my LibraryThing account. If anyone wants to recommend anything, by all means email me – I love to know how things work and will read any good book about that.
