In the Summer of 2006, I went to Yokohama, Japan, to study at the Inter-University Center (it was awesome); but by 2007 I was back in the classroom, this time for Rich Gazan's Management course.
Professor: Rich Gazan -- Syllabus (PDF) -- Rapid Prototype Project Guidelines (PDF)
Catalog Description: Basic theories and principles of administration for effective management of public, academic, and special libraries and information centers, with emphasis on planning, organizing, staffing, directing, and control. Administrative aspects of public and technical services, facilities, planning, evaluation, public relations, interagency cooperation, and the management of change in bureaucratic organizations.
The Rapid Prototype Project was the final project for the class - an amazing experience where all the people in the class had to work together to design a Bookmobile system for the island of O'ahu. It was entirely self-directed and self-managed, with very little outside influence from Prof. Gazan. Please read the guidelines (above) and see the outcome for yourself:
